Hi there! My name is Grace, or Ga Yeong (가영) and I am the recipe creator and photographer behind Tofuify! Thank you for visiting my blog, I am so excited to have you here.
As you can probably tell from my name, I am Korean! Naturally, I grew up eating a lot of tofu as part of my regular diet. When I decided to go vegan, I found that tofu was just a very natural protein substitute for animal based protein. You will find that I use tofu in a lot of my recipes. I think tofu is a very versatile and affordable ingredient that can be incorporated into many dishes. (Hence the name Tofuify!)
What can you expect to find on Tofuify?
In this blog, I hope to share with you simple and delicious plant-based recipes that I like to cook and eat regularly (both with and without tofu!). All of my recipes have been tested multiple times, and are designed to be simple to follow. I try to stick to using affordable and readily-available ingredients whenever possible, and I create my recipes with accessibility in mind.
In addition, here you will see a lot of both traditional and modern Korean recipes that I have veganized, as well as Korean-fusion and recipes with an Asian twist. This can be attributed to my mixed culture upbringing. I was born in Korea but I’ve spent my teenage and adult years in England and the US.
Of course, I will also post recipes that are not necessarily Asian-inspired but simple to make and delicious too. My goal in creating this blog is to document and share my own vegan recipes and hopefully show you that cooking plant-based doesn't have to be difficult.
This blog is perfect for you if you are:
- Already a fan of non-vegan Korean food but you are interested in trying your hand at making vegan Korean food.
- Familiar with some Asian vegan recipes and are looking to diversify your vegan cooking portfolio.
- You are not vegan and have no idea what Korean food is, but you accidentally landed here because you saw some yummy looking food on social media.
- Basically this blog is open to everyone so come hang out!!
More about me...
Prior to starting this blog, I was a PhD student in Operations Research. I also majored in Applied Math in college (I know… totally unrelated to this blog).
I started this blog in 2020 after taking a leave of absence from my PhD program because I was not sure if I really wanted to continue. I have always enjoyed cooking, and I wanted to take this time to start my own food blog where I would document my own recipes and have an opportunity to share them with others.
I currently live in Chicago with my husband Aaron, who helps a lot with testing my recipes!
